"We are at our wits’ end..."
At this point, we are beyond overwhelmed and entirely drained with everything that has been going on. Our experience from the beginning was not pleasant and has progressively gotten worse. We are at our wits’ end…
Starting from the beginning…
We arrived the day of our tour, having already done our research on the pricing and availability that they had to offer. We met with a leasing consultant to discuss the current pricing and availability before she had us tour the units. We were not shown a single unit within our price range. Instead she took it upon herself to decide what she would show us. I knew there were other units that are within our price range so I asked her about them. Instead of being honest, she continuously lied to us until I asked her a few more times. This definitely did not make a good first impression.
On the day we received our keys, we again had to meet up with that same leasing consultant to complete our move-in inspection. Upon arriving at the unit, she had failed to bring along anything to document our inspection. We were also rushed through our inspection, and now I know why. This is a brand new apartment complex, so you would think that there wouldn't be anything wrong. That is a mistake. Our unit was not even cleaned prior to us moving in. There were scratches all over the cabinetry and a quite apparent scuff on the refrigerator.
*On a sidenote to those flaws, maintenance came by and took care of things for us. The maintenance team are the one and only thing I appreciate and respect about Broadstone Cavora.
The day we moved in and days to follow…
There were hundreds, if not thousands of ants swarming and bombarding our entire unit. We had to call down to the office at least three times before they would even give us the slightest answer of what they would do to fix things. They ended up placing traps and having an exterminator come to spray for them, which did absolutely nothing.
I ended up writing a review on yelp about our experience so far… The day following, I noticed that the same leasing consultant had the audacity to vote our review as ‘funny’. This kind of behavior from someone who works for this company is appalling. It is unprofessional and extremely immature. I have spoken to others who have also had problems with her. The company is very aware of what she has done and have failed to do anything about it. Since this incident, anytime we have encountered her, she has been rude and constantly gives us unsettling, dirty looks. We are sick and tired of her treating us with such disrespect and do not feel comfortable knowing that she has all of our information.
The ant infestation had become so extreme that we ended up paying another deposit, with an additional undisclosed fee to be able to move into a new unit that was two floors up from our current unit. We transferred all of our belongings to the new unit over the course of one day. The next day, we went down to our prior unit to make sure everything was clean and cleared out. When we first stepped into the unit, we noticed that the lights were on and all of the doors were open. This was extremely unsettling because we know for absolute certain that we had closed all the doors and had every single light turned off. Obviously, this goes to show us that somehow had been in our unit without authorization.
We were really hoping that our move to the new unit would be successful, yet here we are again with more problems. Once again, there were hundreds of ants pouring out of the baseboards into our unit. This is the most disgusting and overwhelming experience we have ever encountered. We keep our apartment extremely clean. We never leave any food, beverages or dishes out. The counters and floors are always clean, and we have never had any ants at any other place we have lived. The company told us this was due to new construction… yet we have lived in new construction before and never had any of these issues.
Other residents have written reviews on yelp with their concerns, but the reviews are now deleted and mine ended up in the not recommended section. Multiple people have reached out to me about Broadstone Cavora on yelp. I have been asked questions regarding our concerns and asked if I recommend Broadstone Cavora as a decent place to live…
