Denver is known as the mile-high city because it sits exactly 5,280 feet above sea level. Home to more than 5.4 million people, it's one of the fastest-growing cities in Colorado. The town attracts young people and families looking to work in the burgeoning tech scene, along with thousands of baby boomers who choose to enjoy the stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. In fact, Denver is regularly ranked one of the top places in America to retire. Image via Flickr by Larry Johnson
More than 100,000 people moved to the city last year for many reasons. Here are a few places to go and a few neighborhoods in which to find Denver, Colorado, apartments.

Whether you're just out of college looking for cheap apartments in Denver or a family of five searching for the best school, you'll find exactly what you're looking for in these communities. City Park is one of the smallest neighborhoods but is considered one of the most affordable for families. It has top-rated schools, including East High School of the Denver Public School System. This is also a great neighborhood for community bonding, with homes and stores built around parks for families to enjoy.
Wheat Ridge was recently named one of the best neighborhoods for retirees. There are plenty of condos and ranch-style homes for older residents, and there are more than 173 doctors in the area. Roughly 18 percent of the population is retired, and there are plenty of art festivals and community activities to maintain an active lifestyle. Check Craigslist Denver for opportunities to volunteer or to find clubs to join.
Lowry Field has a range of homes, from low $200,000 digs to multimillion mansions. If you look carefully, it's possible to get a steal renting a condo or a home that's in such a great location. There are plenty of local restaurants and bars nearby, and the schools are highly rated if you have kids. With the rapid growth of Denver, the hardest part of living in this up-and-coming area is finding a home before they're all gone.
If the idea of 300 days of sunshine annually appeals to you, then consider moving to Denver. The city has an average rainfall that's lower than the rest of the country and more dry, sunny days. In fact, there's more sunshine in Denver than in San Diego or Miami. In the summer, temperatures stay cool with limited humidity from the mountain air. Highs in the summer are in the 80s, with lows in the 50s.
While Denver receives less rain than the rest of the country, it also sees less snow than most cities that far north. Visit Denver reports that snow rarely stays on the ground long in the winter, and the average winter temperature is in the mid-40s.
Many people believe the best time of year to visit Denver is in the fall. The changing leaves contrast against the Rocky Mountains and create postcard-esque views everywhere you turn.
Many tourists visit Denver annually to take in the beautiful views and hike along the Rocky Mountains. Mount Evans offers expansive 360-degree views. Before you go, check to make sure the road is open. If there's too much rain or snow, the area might be closed to keep hikers safe. Visitors can also take a day trip to Rocky Mountain State Park to hike along the pines and enjoy nature outside the city.
If you're a sports fan, be sure to buy season tickets to the Colorado Rockies when you move. The mountain air makes the balls soar farther than they normally would in low-level stadiums. This makes Coor's Field a hitters park, where home runs regularly fly out of the stadium or into the gloves of adoring fans. This city is also home to the Denver Broncos, the 2015 Super Bowl Champions, and the Denver Nuggets NBA team.
If you're moving with kids, stop by the Denver Zoo. Kids will love the carousel and train, while the family will enjoy the elephant show and giraffes. If it's raining, spend the day at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science in City Park. Kids can pretend to be astronauts in the Space Museum or learn how some of their favorite items (like chocolate and robots) are made.
The Way Back is one of the highest rated bars in Denver. There's a fantastic mural behind the bar, and the staff prepare cocktails that pair well with the food on the menu. Try the ricotta ravioli or the roast chicken.
If you're craving some Italian Food, eat at Bar Dough. Executive Chef Max MacKissock wants to create a modern twist on traditional Italian cuisine. He wants to embrace the cozy neighborhood feel while taking his food to a higher level. So far, everyone who eats here raves about the garlic bread, and you might have to take up hiking around the Rocky Mountains to keep eating them.
For a romantic night out, stop by the Truffle Table for a wine and cheese pairing. This bar is perfect for sipping on cool fall evenings and cozying up with a special someone. It's neighborhood restaurants like this that make the apartment ratings in Denver so high.
Finally, anyone who lives in Denver needs to stop by the Fruition Restaurant at least once. This establishment has gluten-free options and changes up its menu with the seasons, so even if you feel like you've had everything on the menu, there's bound to be something new in a few months. They pride themselves on fresh food served well, and you're sure to leave full.
As you search Apartment Finder Denver for the next great place to live, consider your lifestyle, family, and recreational needs. When you combine these things, you will see why so many people call Denver home and why so few people leave.
