"Scary with a side of gross"
I've had to hold off writing this review until things were fully resolved. Now that it is, I can give this my honest review.
It started out fine; the leasing agent was very nice and helpful. However, things went downhill quickly after I moved in. Within a week of moving in, there was a homicide two buildings away from me. This doesn't make a single woman such as myself feel safe. For awhile I didn't have any neighbors above me which was great. At some point that changed - loudly. The neighbors above me fought so bad that one night I called the 911 because I thought someone was shot or stabbed. Again...not feeling very safe.
The grounds are seemingly nice...until you take a closer look. The buildings are in DEPLORABLE shape and there is trash everywhere. Paint was peeling off the patio. I wasn't able to enjoy my patio much because the upstairs neighbors didn't walk their dog and would let it pee on their balcony...which would drip onto my patio. So my patio smelled like cigarettes and dog urine all the time.
So let's talk about the staff and moving out. The staff in the beginning were okay, then it changed management and I swear that's when it fell apart. Two to three weeks before moving out, I tried to call the office to ask questions about the protocol of moving out. I never was able to actually get a hold of anyone on the phone no matter what time of day I called. By the time I got home from work, the office was closed. I left messages requesting they call me back. Nothing. The ONE time I was able to talk to somebody, we got "disconnected". Funny...we got disconnected at 5:30pm; coincidentally this is when the office closed. I wasn't able to get a hold of someone about moving out until the DAY BEFORE my last day. When I did get a hold of them and tried to arrange a final walk through, I was told that had to be scheduled weeks in advance. I also cited part of my lease where it states that I have to schedule a walk through otherwise I forfeit my rights. I was told that it wasn't necessary that I be there; that they can do that without me there. Fat chance; I told them I will be at the apartment all day cleaning and they should pick a time to meet me. The next day I cleaned; the woman was 30 minutes late to do the walk through. The apartment was spotless (most tenants don't do what I do) and could easily been moved into; even the maintenance guy was impressed. I believe he said something to the effect he wished all places looked like mine when tenants moved out. The woman was VERY snotty and condescending. It was clear that the apartment was in good condition, but she did her damnedest to find fault.
Lets fast forward to 85 days after I moved out. That's right...it took 85 days for them to return my deposit. Legally they have to return in within 60 days. After two letters of threatening small claims court, I finally got a check.
My advice: don't move here. If you do, take LOTS of pictures because management WILL try to screw you over. This places is the worst place I have ever lived in.
