The great thing about University Oaks is its great location, you can easily get to most of the classes and it's convenient when using public transport too. The apartments are fully furnished and there is enough space to share between 2 or 3 people. They also feature a decent clubhouse. However, a good suggestion for the management would be to take more things into consideration when matching roommates, as it can be frustrating to end up in the same apartment with someone loud or who has a different schedule than yours. It would also be great if they were more restrictive on their pet policies, since owners don't seem to care much about cleaning up after their pets. Other than that, maintenance has been considerate and helpful with any issue I had.
This community is not really what you'd call a proper academic environment. A medium noise level would be understandable since we are all college students here looking to have a good time, but the walls are really thin and it becomes a struggle to sleep or study. The internet connection is very poor because there is only wireless internet available. The fact that basic amenities, like electricity, parking and laundry, are not included in the rent is a no-brainer. You rarely find a parking spot anyway and you have to go up to the clubhouse to do your laundry. The apartments are fully furnished but that is useless since the management couldn't care less about cleaning and maintaining the buildings. They also take a long time to respond to even the smallest request.
"You're better off"
At a first glance, Univesity Oaks might look like a wonderful place to live because the apartments are nicely designed and the price seems just right for what you get. But actually living here changes quickly that first impression. The staff here only cleans and maintains these units superficially, just enough to get people to move in. They don't take responsibility for their jobs and they lack any organizational skills. All the appliances and furniture in the apartment are cheap and break easily, so the residents have to pay for any damage even if it was poor quality to begin with. Most of my neighbors are very loud and noise becomes a constant frustration. Spare yourself the headache.
University Oaks could be a great community if they changed the staff in the office. They really don't take care of their tenants. The apartments have plenty of space and enough furniture to be comfortable, the location is close to anything you might need. If only they would properly clean the buildings and grounds! The cobwebs and dirt, the dog poop on the sidewalks, the paint on the walls that looks like it's about to peel off, it just shows me the staff doesn't make any effort for the rent they get. Ironically, they expect you to pay every first of the month, motivating that it's a means to assure better cleaning and maintenance for the place. Renting should be a win-win situation for both the tenant and the owner/management, this is not the case. I hope I find a way to enjoy my stay somehow until my lease expires.
