"Live anywhere but here."
I will start by saying I am not normally a company reviewer whether it be good or bad but I feel that a review is beyond necessary for these apartments.
REVIEWS... if you see any positive reviews it is because the tenants of the entire complex were sent an email stating that “$$$ give away$$$ enter to win $500 *positive reviews only qualify* We are asking all residents to write a positive review at one of the following sites… bring in your positive review to enter in to a $500 off rent contest”
I lived here for two years, second year was not really by choice but it was much easier just to resign then have to find a new place, pack, move etc.
I have lived in 3 apartments over the years and these are definitely the worst by far. Not only is the quality of Timber Oaks apartments terrible, the price, staff, and maintenance are all in the negatives. I do not have one good thing to say about this complex.
I am an “under the radar” tenant, I lived by myself, had a dog that was only home when I was home because I took her to work with me, she was always clean, did not shed and never had any sort of accidents in the apartment. I was really only home at night due to work, paid rent on time every month, never have any issues, etc.. the first time my lease was up they were upping my rent by $130 per month. The second time my lease was up (did not resign) they were going to not only up my rent by $130, they were upping the trash fee to $30, and adding a “common area maintenance fee” of $30 as well. Great tenant loyalty huh?
I had numerous maintenance issues but the biggest is was A/C went out at least 3 times, two of those times were in the heat of the summer. The first time it went out I woke up to an apartment of 82 degrees when I sleep with it on 68, nothing coming out of vents so obviously not working. When I submitted a work order they came and checked it while I was at work. I came home to an 87-degree apartment. When called to ask why it was not fixed nor given a window unit I was told that “since it was not 102 degrees in my apartment like it was outside it seemed to be working” … REALLY?
PARKING.. one word.. NIGHTMARE. I am a woman in my 20s and would come home from restaurant work anywhere from 11pm – 1am. 1 out of 10 times there was a space open within 100 yards of my apartment. 3 out of 10 times there was a space open in the entire complex, and 6 out of 10 times there was not one space open in the entire complex. When I contacted the office about this issue and the concern of safety for a young woman parking all the way across the complex late at night the only option I was given was to pay the $45 a month for a covered parking space.
TIME FOR MOVE OUT.. now I have moved out and received my move out statement. I am being charged for cleaning $89, carpet cleaning $80, and drip pans $25 (?).. When asked why I was being charged for carpet cleaning because my carpet was new and there was zero spills or stains anywhere I was told “With every turn the carpets are cleaned.” The contract states that “I will be liable for reasonable cleaning charges -including charges for cleaning carpets… THAT ARE SOILED BEYOND NORMAL WEAR.” Again, my carpet was new and had zero wear, spills, or stains. When confronted about what the contract stated I was then told “my carpet needed to be stretched due to dragging of furniture…” and am being charged $40 for cleaning and $40 for stretching. 1. I hired movers so no furniture was ever drug, 2. “stretching” of carpet is not in the contract” 3. “stretching” has nothing to do with cleaning. I am being threatened with a collections agency if I do not pay, even though it is against the contract I signed.
In a nutshell Timber Oaks is nothing but a money hungry company, they do not care about you, your well-being, or being loyal to their tenants. They will try to charge you for anything and everything they possibly can. Advice to anyone looking, if possible I would live anywhere but here.
