"Not enough staff, maintenance is weak"
I'd love to say my last 10 months here has been okay, but it just gets worse. We finally had two ladies running the leasing office and then one quit and then the next. From talking to the other parents in the complex, we realized the young manager was promising my new neighbors all kinds of things to get them to sign. I had to ask for my AC unit to be fixed no cold air. I thought it happens, but when I went to the office there were four people in front of me. Next day three more all they said was we will get to it. They did improve it, but my AC unit looks really old and small. Soon it was the talk at the pool. Only one maintenance guy and a ton of outside contractors do the work, that little man is so busy working with the carpet people or the plumbers he is always running around, no wonder it takes time to fix stuff. They are working to improve, but now they are back down to only one manager. They brought in some help last week, but now it is just one young guy in there. So if you need service, either do the maintenance ticket online or catch him when he is not showing an apartment. BTW, a common thing and I have experienced is the smell of the apartments. It took me two months to get the smell of out mine and I had the upgraded kitchen which is really nice and the new floors. Not sure what that smell is, but it was not like new carpet or glue it was moldy and old smells. One of my windows has water between glass, they told it some day they may get to it. Kind of blocks my view from my living room on the second floor. No laundry in my unit, unless I want to buy washer and dryer and yet studio has washer and dryer. I do not need a front loader and there is a non-working laundry room in most buildings from what I have heard. While the location is great for us, close to a lot, I think if we stay in Dayton we will look at a house or a more expensive place. Sometimes the kid cars are loud, but we have never had any trouble beyond that. Lake is really nice to see on a lazy weekend day.
Stayed 2016 to 2017, lived with family in a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment
This pet friendly community was my salvation. I was looking for a small apartment for me and my dog, well located but not too expensive. Here I've found all of this. I am super busy with my job and for sure I will not have the time to enjoy everything that I've seen at the guided tour but it looks really nice to have a fishing lake and so much green area around, with a lot others entertainment places around here. From what I saw, the leasing lady was nice and not too pushy in any way to make me move in here, which is exactly the reason why starting next week I will call myself a resident of CL.
"Full of life"
Me and my wife are just okay with this place. It's not perfect but we like it. Some of the things that work perfectly fine: the way that the apartment is divided- two bedrooms, big living room that is connected to the dining room, two bathrooms and an incredible balcony that has a beautiful view to the ponds. In my opinion this is a perfect community for students or young families because it has many facilities for fun: great pool, 24 hour gym and sand volleyball court. Actually this is how most of the residents like to spend their free time, which is nice because it brings life to this place.
"My privacy was not respected"
My staying here is not the way I expected. There were some issues with the neighbors above me because they used to play guitar late at night but I've told them to be careful and there was no more music since then. It happened so many times for my AC not to work but that was not such a big deal for me either. What bothered me more was the fact that the maintenance service entered into my apartment when I wasn't home to fix things. I don't like this. I expect for my privacy to be respected, no matter what. I know it could be worse but at the end of the day I feel exhausted because of problems like this.
"My second time here but I'm still impressed"
My second time in here. I was living here in my last year of university and now, after 2 years I got this job at one of the companies located really close to this complex. Of course that I preferred coming back here when my last experience with Chesapeake Landing ended so well. It was always a joy to hang out with my neighbors (which used to also be my classmates) at different pubs and restaurants, or even at the theaters located in the area. Now I spend my free time at the gold club with one of my neighbors and only from time to time I join the activities inside of the complex. Anyway, the office staff even if it was changed, it is the same in terms of professionalism and attention. I used to have some problems with my old apartment because it was not updated, but now I see how many improvements they've done and I am more than pleased with this.
